A&WMA's Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE) - June in Portland
… you can participate in several ways!
The 101st Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE) is being hosted by PNWIS in Portland, Oregon, June 24-27. Check out the full-featured website www.awma.org/ACE2008 for opportunities and online registration:
Professional development courses
Technical sessions including a critical review program on Climate Change
Great speakers in several plenary sessions
Networking events including technical and social tours
Exhibition with up to 150 exhibitors
Special student and young professional programs
The first international Student Environmental Challenge (ECi)
Scholarship golf tournament
Scholarship silent auction
Sponsorship visibility
Fun run and shoe recycling
Many other associated activities
You can also help make this conference a NW success by volunteering your time to monitor technical sessions (see information below) or to help with the Portland Welcome Booth or Media Room. Contact Terry Nyman (terryn@u.washington.edu) about monitoring sessions, Ashley Zanolli (zanolli.ashley@epa.gov) about staffing the Media Room, and Brian Doyle (doyleb@asme.org) about staffing the Welcome Booth. If you have items to donate to the silent auction contact Martha Moore (martha@tw-enviro.com).
Session monitors receive registration fee offsets for their support. For instance, half-day monitors receive a same-day registration and full-day monitors receive a registration for another day of their choice. (Registration benefits include admission to technical sessions and exhibits only.) We will need over 100 volunteers! You can register online at http://secure.awma.org/reg/ace2008 (be sure to check "I will be serving as a session monitor" at the bottom of the first screen and that will lead to subsequent questions about monitoring and options). You can get more information and download a registration form at www.awma.org/ACE2008/monitor.htm if you prefer to fax OR mail it (instructions on the form). See Technical Grid Link for a listing of technical sessions and register early for the best selection!
Attending the conference, sponsoring an event (conference or scholarship golf), or participating as an exhibitor is also a great way to support this event and benefit from significant recognition and networking opportunities. We are working with numerous NW associations to showcase sustainability practices and services in our region.
We'll see you in Portland!
