The British Columbia Ministry of Environment is the major Sponsor of the conference at the Platinum (Legacy) level. Support of the
PNWIS 2006 conference is one of the many actions the Ministry is taking to ensure British Columbia leads the world in sustainable
environmental management.
The theme for PNWIS 2006 is ‘Healthy Communities – Using Science-Based Solutions for Sustainability’. The conference will
be held at the Victoria Conference Centre in beautiful Victoria, BC. PNWIS 2006 will span three days from November 8-10 and will consist of a plenary session,
several streams of technical papers, exhibitors displays and the student Environmental Challenge. The plenary session focuses on Achieving Healthy Communities – Integrating science, health knowledge and policy.
The technical sessions will cover air and waste management topics designed to restore, preserve and protect a healthy environment,
which is a necessity for healthy communities.

Technical Program
Environmental Challenge
The Environmental Challenge is open to teams of students from post secodary academic institutions from Canada and the US. These teams will compete for prizes by researching, developing and presenting solutions to an environmental problem that will be
posted on this website prior to the conference. Presentations will take place on Friday morning and awards will be presented at the Awards Luncheon the same day.
